Q. What is a comprehensive exam?
A. Our dentists evaluate your oral health and your risk for problems in four areas: the gum and bone support of your teeth, the strength of your the teeth (this is where we check for cavities), how your teeth, jaws and muscles work together, and your smile satisfaction. We also perform a oral cancer screening exam . Check out the “Health Report Card” by clicking on the Patient Forms button! |

Q. What kind of X-rays do you take?
A. We never take X-rays on a “routine” basis. The type of X-rays you need, and how often you need them, is individually prescribed for you by our doctors. Our X-rays are all digital, which deceases the radiation used. We follow the FDA Guidelines for Prescribing Dental Radiographs.

Q. I have heard about lead in dental crowns from China. Where are your crowns made?
A. Our patients can be confident that their crowns are precious metal or porcelain and do not contain any lead. They are made locally, in Oregon, by Davis Dental Lab. Davis Lab is family-owned, and has been a member of the Portland dental community for over 20 years.

Q. Do you use lasers in your dental practice?
A. Yes. We use a soft-tissue laser to treat many conditions in the gum and throughout the mouth. For example, using a laser can shorten the time that a canker sore is painful. Lasers are also used to treat gum inflammation and can reshape areas of bulky gum tissue.
